Incidentally I later found that my disk space was practically full so this must have been why the app behaved erratically - the app really needs to handle this more robustly.

The option for Scanner Pro under iCloud settings is still enabled too. iCloud was previously working with the app, but since the app crashed badly I can’t get it back. I know where it should be because I see it on my iPad (right next to “Wi-fi Access”) but the option vanished on my iPhone. Neither does “Store Scans in iCloud Drive”.
